Trainee IAS team visits Pochampally, falls in love with Ikat sarees

On Wednesday, a team of six trainee IAS officers had the opportunity to visit the Handloom Park in Kanumumkula village, Pochampally mandal as part of their study tour. The group was able to learn about the production, marketing strategies, and employment opportunities in the handloom sector by interacting with the members of the governing body of the Handloom Park. They also had the chance to witness the process of weaving a cloth on a handloom firsthand.

After examining the traditional Pochampally sarees, the trainee officers were impressed by the skills of the local handloom weavers. The Handloom Park director, B Lava Kumar, provided guidance to the team during their visit. The Textiles and Handlooms department's Assistant Director, Sampath Kumar, and Tahsildar Dashratha Naik, along with the management of the Handloom Park, even presented the trainee IAS officers with bouquets and shawls as a token of appreciation.
